Camping

We have been trying to find a weekend to get away & go camping before it gets too cold. A couple of weeks ago, we decided on the last weekend in October.

I'll admit, I was nervous about it & not sure how badly I wanted to go. This would be our first time in the trailer with Nahan. He sleeps best in his own bed. Mike on the other hand, was excited beyond belief. So, I kept my feelings to myself & started making plans. Mike took Friday & Monday off work & we were going to head out mid-morning on Friday. We were only going an hour away to a state park, so no need to leave early morning.

We got up around 6:30 or 7:00 and started getting things together. I opened 0ur blinds and saw this...
Apparently our neighbor's house burned in the night. How we slept through it, I will never know. Mike is the world's lightest sleeper. I went over to their next door neighbor & checked to see if everyone is okay. Fortunately, they are all safe. I just started feeling guilty about going with what just happened.
After checking in on them, we went to vote. I love early voting! Go vote!! Don't take this right for granted.
We came home & put Nathan down for a nap. Mike started doing his stuff to get the trailed hooked up & ready to go. I noticed that he had been out there for a while, but didn't think too much of it. Until he came in the house. He had that look, I knew something was wrong. He said that the trailer was stuck. We'd had a TON of rain that night & into the morning.
Part of me was a little relieved, but Mike was so bummed. He went back out to see what he could do. He came back in quite upset. (yeah, I'm putting it mildly. Mike never gets mad, but he was mad.) I got on the internet & tried to find a way to salvage our weekend. He wasnt going for any suggestions other that camping. In the meantime a friend of mine called. I mentioned to her what was going on & she had her hubby call Mike. Brandon came over with his truck, trailer & wench. Not too much later, I looked out & saw the trailer was no longer in the side yard. Thanks Brandon!!

All in all the camping trip was fun. Nathan had a hard time at night, and we got very little sleep, but we also got to spend the mornings just hanging out. We built big fires, went on hikes and took a fun drive.
Here's some pictures.

There was a playground near our campsite, so we took Nathan over to play. He LOVED the slide & had fun playing in the leaves under the play structure.

I was impressed, he didn't try to eat the leaves. He inspected them, waved them around like a flag & threw them. I think he is growing up.
