I found the fleece in, yep, the remnant bin. It was the EXACT size that I needed. How exciting is that?? If I remember right, it cost around $4. I got the pattern on sale for less that $5. I can reuse the pattern, so only part of it is for this year's costume. I actually figured out last night, that I can use the pattern to make sleepers for Nathan. WOOHOO!! Fleece footed sleepers are way too expensive. I have been seeing fleece in the remnant bin for less than $5. In fact, I just bought a couple yards a couple days ago.
So, back to the costume. I have had the pattern for at least a month now and just keep putting it off. I seem to have pattern phobia. The instructions always seem like they were written in Chinese & translated back to English. I hate the dots, notches & fabric grain lines. I hate being forced to do something very specific. I much prefer to be given guidelines and just go from there, really create.

I put all of that aside, because I knew I could learn so much from facing my fears & following a pattern.
Last night, Daddy took over watching Nathan & set to work. I had my frustrations, like sleeves that wouldn't fit the armhole. Note, it was not my cutting. The pattern is weird. But, I modified it & it fits just fine. Lesson #1 learned. I bit my tongue ALOT when I wanted to scream at the weird directions. Lesson #2 learned. I finished most of last night, I still need to put on the hood & cuffs and put the snaps up the legs. I decided to wait on all that for a good fitting on Nathan. It's a bit big, but I think it will look adorable on him. I am going to add some white felt, for spots.

Oh, not sure I mentioned it. He will be a puppy. ;) Pretty fitting for Nate Pup.
