Daily Recap

I hope you all don't mind reading my daily goals & recaps. I'm trying hard to become more organized and this is helping me, alot! I do have many other things on my daily to-do lists, but I'm posting the biggies.

Today was an overall good day. Nathan & I played and he napped really well.

The morning started with some snow flurries. We were told that there would be an inch on the ground... HA! Nathan & I braved the elements to get some free fabric from Freecycle. (If you haven't already, join Freecycle. We have given away plenty of stuff, and received a TON of stuff.) We decided to head out early before much snow could hit the ground. It stopped snowing within minutes of leaving the house. Crazy weatherman, get it right! haha

We got home, Nathan went down for a nap & I sorted fabric. I'm not even sure what to do with it all. It was two 13 gallon bags FULL of fabric. There's yards of cream colored linen, that will become clothes of some sort ~ I'm thinking cute summer rompers or such. Then a couple yards of satiny fabric in a wine color. Then other random stuff.

For dinner we met Daddy at the local Chinese restaraunt. Afterwards he went on to Youth and Nathan & I went next door to Goodwill. Seriously people, I'm addicted to Goodwill. Did you know that they get fabric, all the time?! I had no idea! I got a wool sweater, 5 books for the boy, 5 or 6 pillowcases ~ to become dresses, 2 or 3 yards of fabric and something I'm forgetting for $13.00.

Without too many details, I think I may be getting what Mike had yesterday. I'm a little relieved that is feeling better already. Seemed to only be 24 hours.

Goal for today?
1. Keep my boy happy. ~ Done!

2. Finish laundry ~ eh, mostly

3. Stay warm ~ Done!

4. Stay healthy! ~ too soon to tell.

Beautiful Fabric

I was at Hobby Lobby yesterday, getting a couple things that I needed. Mostly, I was just wondering and not actually spending money. Some days, I just like to look at craft stuff.

Anyhow, whenever I am at a store that sells fabric, I make a beeline for the remnant stash. Much like I always head for the clearance rack at a clothing store. Most times, there isn't much that appeals to me, but then others I find a true gem! I love a bargain, and I love knowing that something others would discard will be used and cherished by me. (I know, a bit deep for pieces of fabric, but it's my love!!) haha

So, yesterday there seemed to be a lot of things that I couldn't use. I was about to give up, when something pretty caught my eye.



It was originally $25 a yard, since it's home furnishing fabric. I never go to that section of the fabric store. I prefer the $5/yard & under section. I wasn't sure what I would use it for, I mean it was 56 inches by 18 inches. I couldn't just walk away from it, it was only $5!!! So, I put it in the cart, figuring I would need to put it back. As I walked the store, it came to me. I know what this beautiful fabric could become...

After Nathan was in bed, and Mike was enjoying tv, I headed to the fabric. I began measuring, cutting and pinning.

First, there was a pocket attached to some brown fabric from my stash.

A tote bag, that will be just the right size for my purse with room for a diaper, bottle & toy!!

I made a few mistakes, since I didn't use a pattern. but, I love it!! I keep feeling the fabric, and looking at it. I can't wait to go out of the house, just so I can use my tote!
