That was almost 11 years ago.
While making Christmas Cookies, the motor burnt out on my trusty hand mixer. I was tempted to run & get the KitchenAid that I have been coveting, but decided to be practical instead. We simply replaced it with a newer model. Well, Mike's parents replaced it for us. Thanks Guys!!
Since sewing this last year, I have been ironing more than ever! Seriously, we just don't iron much. We are jeans & t's kind of people. Apparently, it's all been too much for my old iron. I can't say that I was sad, it had very little features on it & just irritated me.
Then, I've been using a basic folding table for my craft/sewing area for quite some time. It bounced like crazy when the sewing machine would get going, and of course that slows me down. I had very little in the way of storage, and as I got more into sewing, it became more cluttered in there. Friends of ours are cleaning & reorganizing their basement and gave us a great metal computer desk with hutch. I can close the cabinets of the hutch, keep things out of sight.
I've been spending the afternoon putting things away and straightening the area. I'm so excited!! I still some work to do, like sorting my scraps & "to be finished" boxes, but that will happen in time. Hopefully, this new area will be more inviting to my creative juices.
My goal for the next week, is to get the house (and my life) much more organized. I think much better when things aren't cluttered, and I'm just tired of it all!
Oh, and in case anyone is wondering... my little sewing space is in a small, 6' X 2.5' alcove in our bedroom. So, I have to be creative with my space. I use our bed as my cutting table, and the ironing board winds up staying up all the time. I would love to some day have a bright room devoted to my crafts ~ complete with large cutting table, but for now, I am beyond grateful for my little space.
