spring

I'm loving spring!

I've never lived in an area with true seasons. I grew up in Southern California. Our seasons were just the dead heat of summer and a cooling off period in winter. I remember seeing season changes on tv or movies and thinking how nice that would be to have a bit of a change.

Since moving to the south, I have been enjoying the seasons.

The winter to spring change is my favorite so far. Winter is a time of quiet and rest. The trees shed their leaves, animals and bugs just go away (yeah, not getting technical here) and you just wait.

Here in Middle Tennessee, we have a lot of rock walls from where they blasted to put in roads. I love seeing the ice formations on them as we drive. Everything is grey, then the ice/snow just sparkles. It's really beautiful.

But then, you realize, it's just cold. I'm ready for change! And change you get.

Grey is replaced with more shades of green than I ever imagined. Dotted with pinks, reds, oranges, purples, whites and blues.

The warmth of the sun is here without the overpowering humidity. (I'll take freezing over humidity any day.) There's grilling out for dinner, iced tea, lemonade, fresh fruits, playing outside and for me line drying clothes.

It feels as if my own little home has come to life. I can feel a charge in how we do things right now.

Change is good. There is a time for everything and reason for it.
