Sewing Projects

A few weeks back, I was at Joann's with my friend Katie. We were looking for fabric for her nursing cover. I of course, had to stop by the remnant bins & see if there were any gems to be found. I felt some of the softest fabric! It was a beautiful chocolate brown & begged to come home with me. It was only $4 and nothing was wrong with it. Just an odd shape cut.

I have been thinking on how I could use this precious fabric. My initial thought was to make it a blanket for Nathan, but it was too long & skinny.

Then a light bulb appeared over my head!! I have some super soft blue minky fabric that is just collecting dust, because I wanted to do something special with it. Why not cut a bunch of 6 inch squares & make a quilt of sorts with these two wonderful fabrics.

I have been working on simply cutting the squares for over a week. I'll be honest, quilts intimidate me. But, I want to do this & it doesn't have to be perfect.

Here's a sneak peek...

Soft Blanket Brown & Blue

Can you feel the softness through the pictures?? Oh, I can't wait to snuggle on the couch, in front of a fire with my baby & this blanket!

Hey! It's krazyisty from the boards... the fabrics look amazing! I quilt a little bit and just wanted to give you a short cut for next time! If you sewed strips together (say 4 or 6 or how ever wide you want the blanket to be), then cut the strips shorter, you'll already have a row of 6 blocks sewed together. Then you just sew the cut up strips together (so that the block colors alternate) and it skips all the small blocks. Hope that makes sense... Can't wait to see the finished product!!
